Michael learned how to narrate by reading from his novel, The Giro Playboy, which he performed extensively over a 3-4 year period; venues included the Queen Elizabeth Hall, Haye On Wye, and a fortnightly residency at the Whitechapel Gallery;

This put him in good stead to narrate the two series he subsequently wrote and presented for BBC 4, “Citizen Smith” and “Drivetime”.

Michael is currently working on a book and several telly projects, including a film about the north called “To Hull And Back.”
